This post is only somewhat related to exercise, so bear with me. I wanted to give a huge THANK YOU to 2ndtime on Amazon Marketplace for the quick delivery of my ACE Personal Trainer Manual.
Missing Ace Personal Trainer Manual
I purchased the fourth edition ACE Personal Trainer Manual to study for my ACE certification. The real reason for adding the certification? To add Lifestyles and Weight Management Coach Certification to my dossier. I have to have an ACE certification in order to take the specialized course since I have certifications with other organizations.
Anyhow, the brand-spanking new, fourth edition book was $100 and in the last month the book has gone missing. Vanished. Abducted. Lost.
It is common for me to put things on top of the car and drive off, but I didn't do that-- this time. Unfortunately, it's still on the loose. I'm sure it will show up in a few months, but I need the manual now.
Although I hate losing a $100 book I am so grateful to have found a third edition copy from 2ndtime on Amazon.com for $15 with shipping and tax. I placed the order on April 2nd, and the book arrived three days later.
Why I opted for the Third Edition Ace Personal Trainer Manual
Not everyone agrees with buying the older version, but I definitely have my reasons. Obviously, I do not want to pay $100 for another book, but there's more.
Although I was a bit concerned over the "outdated material" I am taking heed in the advice given to me by a nice book store owner in Chicago. She told me those new editions only need a small percentage of new information to become the new edition. The small percentage of change allows for the new, high dollar price.
Granted, a lot has changed since the 2003, but I have both of the fourth edition workbooks for the certification. I'm also a good researcher. With that said, the third edition will certainly suffice.
Another great reason for selecting the third edition ACE Personal Trainer Manual is it's a hardback version. Yes, a hard back, unlike the $100 paperback version. Whether the book is a textbook or a novel there is nothing like the feel of a hardback book.
Lastly, the third edition book has matte pages; not glossy. I cannot tell you what a blessing this is. The fourth edition had glossy pages, and gave me awful headaches from the page reflections. I could only read it for 20 minutes at a time without straining my eyes.
Thanks to 2ndtime on Amazon Marketplace I have the book, and it's time to study. It's rudimentary, but doing another certification will not hurt me by any means, and will lead me in the direction I want to go.
