I found a photo on Facebook the other day that I found really interesting. It was a list of items with  twelve organic fruits and vegetables you should buy, and fifteen foods that you don't need to buy organic.

For once, I was in complete agreement. I always wondered why people would purchase organic melons and avacados; which have thick skins and are peeled to eat?

The Dirty Dozen are certain vegetables and  fruits that have a high pesticide residue percentages. Where the Clean 15 is based on foods with with a low pesticide residue.

As you'll notice, the Clean 15 foods all have thick skins, or layers. For example; the onions and cabbage.

By changing to the organic foods listed in the Dirty Dozen exposure to pesticide residue can be reduced by 80%.
