Do you like Kashi Oatmeal Dark Chocolate Soft-Baked Cookies? Here's my thought on them.
While shopping at Target I noticed the Kashi Oatmeal Dark Chocolate Soft-Baked Cookies. I've had several of the Kashi products, but never their cookies. The name of the cookies enticed me because I really enjoy the taste of dark chocolate, but I also wondered how much of a difference the texture was since it is made with a heavy amount of grains.
Kashi Oatmeal Dark Chocolate Soft-Baked Cookies packaging

Kashi cookies
The cookies are in a rectangular box similar to a Saltine box, but smaller in size. The packaging is eye catching because it's clean in design. The colors are in earthy tones of green and brown on a white box, with a big chocolate chip cookie.
The label explains that the cookie is indulgent, and has 12 whole grains with a naturally sweet taste from wildflower honey. Each cookie also contains 4g. of fiber.
Upon opening the box there was a plastic tray with eight cookies wrapped in a plastic bag. The cookies were not as big as I expected because the box was so much bigger. The chocolate chip cookie was two inches in diameter and reminded me of a bag of potato chips; big package with less volume.
Kashi Oatmeal Dark Chocolate Soft-Baked Cookies
The cookies looked "earthy" and rough. They were dullish brown with dark chocolate chips, and the appearance was a precursor to the taste. The texture was interesting since it is made of so many grains, but it was dry, chewy (as in tough), and semi sweet. The chocolate chips were the best part of the entire cookie. I wasn't too keen on the first couple of bites, but still managed to eat two.
Calorie counting
Although the cookie was
only semi-tasty, it was a little high in calories; much like breads that contain more grains. Each cookie was 130 calories per the one cookie serving. It is considered a
healthier version of chocolate chip cookies, but there are several cookies that are
just as healthy, but much more decadent in taste for the same amount of calories.
I would not buy these cookies again, and can say that I would only eat them if I were very hungry, needed a treat during
bodybuilding contest prep, or if they were given to me.
The cost of Kashi Oatmeal Dark Chocolate Soft-Baked Cookies
This product was between $3 and $4. After eating two cookies I believe that price was too
expensive for eight boxed cookies that were similar to chocolate chip hockey pucks.
